Replacing the oil seal input shaft manual transmission S5D 280Z

Primary oil seal replacement (input) shaft manual transmission S5D 280Z must be carried out in the following order. Remove the manual transmission and release bearing guide bush.

Attention! On the end surface of the input shaft oil seal there are two hidden dismantling holes.

Prepare fixtures «23.0.490», «23.2.380» And «23.2.340». Screw in fixture «23.0.490» (arrow, fig. 8.13) into one of the two dismantling holes and remove (knock out) oil seal from the gearbox crankcase.



Lubricate the seal lips with gear oil. Install fixture «23.2.380» on the splines of the input shaft (1, fig. 8.14). Put the oil seal on the input shaft, moving it over the fixture «23.2.380» to the gearbox housing and remove the tool «23.2.380» from the input shaft.



Using fixture «23.2.340» (arrow, fig. 8.15), press in the seal (1) all the way. When pressing in, use a mallet or hammer with a plastic head.



At the end of the work, change the oil in the manual transmission.
