Attention! It is not allowed to introduce additional additives of any kind into fuels and oils intended by the company «BMW» for their cars.
The car manufacturer has set its own standards for the use of oils, therefore, for reliable operation of the engine, it is necessary to use oils of quality according to the ACEA specification; oils according to the CCMS specification are allowed for short-term use. The lubrication system of all engines is combined - under pressure and spraying in the form of oil mist.
On car models, an oil pressure control system is used, which monitors its value and level, depending on the engine speed. The oil pressure in idling mode with a warm engine must be at least 0.5 kgf / cm2. If the engine speed is greater than or equal to the idle speed and the pressure is less than 0.5 kgf/cm2, the oil pressure warning light flashes on the instrument panel. At maximum speed: for an engine of 5000 - 6000 min-1, the oil pressure should be within 4.0 - 4.7 kgf / cm2.
The main reasons for the blinking indicator can be:
- low oil level;
- malfunction of pressure sensors;
- malfunction of the oil pump drive;
- oil pump malfunction;
- increased wear of the crankshaft bearings.
Engine lubrication capacity (including 0.5 l in oil filter) - 8.0 l.
Oil is poured into the engine oil pan through the plug on the cylinder head cover.
