Attention! When working on cooling, lubrication and fuel systems, protect the generator by installing a screen in the form of a polyethylene film.
Generator replacement must be carried out in the following order. Loosen clamp «negative» wires from the AB terminal, remove it and insulate it. Remove fan shroud, A/C compressor drive belt and alternator. Remove the front engine accessory guard and left turbocharger hose.
Disconnect the loop from the generator and remove the protective cap «+» AB wires on the generator. Loosen the nut and remove «positive» AB wire from the generator.
Remove bolt (1, fig. 6.134) and remove the guide roller (2) generator belt. Remove bolts (3) generator mounts.
Remove alternator (4) upward movement, when the vehicle is equipped with the system «Dynamic Drive» the generator is removed downwards. If necessary, loosen the bolts and remove the alternator support bracket.
Installation of the generator should be carried out in the reverse order, while you need a nut «+» tighten AB wires to torque: M6 (+D) – 7.0 Nm (0.7 kgf·m) and M8 (+V) – 13.0 Nm (1.3 kgf·m). From contact «30» The generator is additionally powered by the preheating control unit, check its connection. Assemble the engine and check the functioning of the system «DDE».
Replacement of the generator pulley and voltage regulator should be carried out using a technology similar to engines «M54» … «N62», while the pulley mounting bolt must be tightened to a torque of:
- generator Valeo - 75 Nm (7.5 kgf·m);
- Bosch generator - 65 Nm (6.5 kgf·m);
- generator with liquid cooling system - 80 Nm (8.0 kgf·m).
Checking the generator and voltage regulator should also be carried out using a technology similar to engines «M54» … «N62».
