To drive the auxiliary units, a two-grooved crankshaft hub pulley with parallel grooves, one after the other, is used. The diameter of the alternator pulley is 55 mm. To remove the far drive belt, you must remove the front belt. Several auxiliary units are driven on the engine with one belt at once - a generator, a coolant pump and a power steering pump. For simplicity of presentation, it will be referred to hereinafter as the generator drive belt. The alternator drive V-belt is changed under the same circumstances as the air conditioning compressor drive.
Note. If the drive belt is to be used in the future, it is necessary to note the direction of its movement and install it again in the same direction.
The alternator drive belt must be replaced in the following order. Remove the viscous coupling of the fan drive with its impeller. Remove the A/C compressor drive belt. Remove tensioner cover (pic. 3.169).
Loosen the tension on the alternator drive belt by inserting a hex wrench into the groove of the bolt and turning the tensioner clockwise. Remove drive belt.
If contaminated with hydraulic fluid, coolant or oil, the drive belt must be replaced. When installing the belt, make sure that it fits snugly into the grooves (streams) pulleys. Unload the tension roller by releasing the Allen key. The tension force of the roller is not adjustable, it will automatically set the required tension force of the drive belt.
On some modifications, a generator drive is used with an additional tension roller and a hydraulic tensioner.
