Changing the oil in the transfer case

Changing the oil in the transfer case (RK) type «NV12S» must be done in the following order.

• Warm up the RC of the car to operating temperature by running a distance of 7-10 km at an increased speed. Remove the cork (1, fig. 2.50) filler hole of the transfer case. Unscrew the drain plug and allow the oil to drain from the RC.

• Replace the sealing rings of the PK plugs. Clean and screw in the plug (M18) drain hole, tightening it with a torque of 33 Nm (3.3 kgf·m).
• Pour oil into the RC up to the lower edge of the filler hole (1), until it starts to overflow. Allow excess oil to drain and clean the crankcase. Screw in and tighten the screw plug. (1) filler hole RK torque 33 Nm (3.3 kgf·m).
• Take a short run, about 15-17 km, and check the tightness of the RK, oil leaks are not allowed. Dispose of drained oil for recycling

RK type «АТС400/500»

Changing the oil in the transfer case (RK) type «АТС400/500» should be carried out in a similar manner, taking into account the location of the plugs (pic. 2.51—2.53) on them.
