Automatic transmission type «A5S 390R»
Checking the oil level in automatic transmission type «A5S 390R» must be done in the following order. Place the car in a horizontal position, the gear selector in position» R» and apply the parking brake.
- Connect the BMW-DIS or BMW MoDiC diagnostic information system to the vehicle. Remove the cork (1, fig. 2.45) from the fill hole.
- Pour oil into the automatic transmission until it starts to overflow. Screw in the cork (1) filling hole by hand. Start the engine and let it run at idle. Press the brake, and in the idle mode, in turn, several times set the control selector to each of the possible gear positions.
- Open the plug again (1) filling hole. Check the oil temperature in the automatic transmission using the BMW-DIS or MoDiCBMW system, it should be about 30°-50°C. Add oil to the automatic transmission until it starts to overflow.
- Check plug condition (M14) filler hole, replace if necessary. Screw in the cork (1) filler hole with a new sealing ring and tighten it to a torque of 18 N.m (1.8 kgf·m). Send the drained oil for recycling.
Automatic transmission type «A5S 440Z»
Checking the oil level in automatic transmission type «A5S 440Z» must be carried out in a similar manner, while screwing the plug (1, M18, fig. 2.46) filler hole with a new sealing ring and tighten it to a torque of 35 N.m (3.5 kgf·m).
Automatic transmission type «GA6HP26Z»
Checking the oil level in automatic transmission type «GA6HP26Z» must be carried out in a similar manner, while screwing the plug (1, fig. 2.47) filler hole with a new sealing ring and tighten it to a torque of 35 N.m (3.5 kgf·m).
If a M30x1.5 filler plug is installed on the manual transmission, it should be tightened to a torque of 80 N.m (8.0 kgf·m).
