- On the engine «M62», uncover clamps (1, fig. 2.28), compress the fixing ring (2) and disconnect the hose (3).
- On the engine «N62», unfold clamps (1, fig. 2.29) and lift the lid (4) air filter housings.
- Remove the replaceable filter element
- Wipe the top and bottom of the filter housing with a clean cloth.
- Inspect the filter, if it is slightly dirty, clean it carefully (knock out), turning the contaminated side down. Replace the oil filter with a new one. Do not blow out the filter with compressed air.
- Install the filter element in reverse order.
- Insert a new filter element into the housing so that the gasket fits into the hole. Check the gasket between the IRV and the upper part of the air filter for damage, replace if necessary.
- Insert the holder until both tabs lock into place. On the M62 engine, fit the hose (3. see fig. 2.28) as far as it will go Locking ring (2) should lock into place with a distinct click.
- On a diesel engine, fasten the cover evenly to the cylinder head and secure the intake manifold.
