Replacing the anti-roll bar

The design of the vehicle's anti-roll bar is shown in Figure 14.59.



Replacement of the anti-roll bar must be carried out in the following order. Remove wheel, loosen nuts (6) and disconnect from the stabilizer bar (5) at both sides.

On the left side of the car, apply a mounting mark to the stabilizer with paint. Loosen the nuts (4), holding brackets (3) stabilizer mounts (1), and remove it. Check and, if necessary, replace rubber-to-metal joints (2).

When installing the stabilizer, correctly position it, label or item number «BMW», must be on the left side of the vehicle.

Replace self-locking nuts (M8) with a shoulder for fastening the retaining brackets and tighten them with a torque of 19 Nm (1.9 kgf·m).

Replace self-locking nuts (M12z1.5) with stand fastening collar (5) stabilizer and tighten them to a torque of 100 Nm (10.0 kgf·m).
