If the engine or injection system does not work properly, it is recommended that you first interrogate the memory of the diagnostic device in a workshop with special diagnostic equipment.
All versions of the DME system have an emergency mode function: when the sensor fails, the control unit is guided by redundant (average) values given by the corresponding sensor. In the event of a failure of the air mass meter, the fuel metering control unit uses the throttle valve position versus engine speed data as base values. Such regulation is activated automatically and independently of the driver. The trip may continue, and engine performance often changes very little. At the same time, faults are recognized by the control unit and stored in memory.
Attention: When disconnecting the wires from the battery or when disconnecting the plug of the control unit, all fault codes are erased.
