Early car models
Remove the distributor cap and remove the distributor rotor.
Check the absence of cracks and traces of burnout on the surface of the distributor slider housing. If required, replace the distributor rotor.
The inside of the lid must be dry.
Check the connecting contacts for wear and corrosion. If necessary, clean them with sandpaper.
Check the center carbon contact for ease of movement and wear. To do this, press the contact with your finger.
Check the distributor cap for leakage currents, which show up as thin irregular marks on the surface of the distributor cap. 5 Wipe the cover with a clean dry cloth and check for cracks. If present, replace cap. Then apply an aerosol agent to the inside of the cover to protect the contacts.
Measure the resistance of the slider, which should be between 0.7 and 1.3 kΩ.
