Tire cleaning
If possible, do not clean tires with a steam jet. If the steam nozzle is brought too close to the tire, the top layer of rubber can be severely damaged. Tires subjected to such cleaning will have to be replaced soon.» It is also necessary to replace tires that have been in contact with oil and grease for a long time. These tires swell at the points of contact, but they soon return to their normal shape and look intact. However, the load capacity of the tires is greatly degraded.
Tire storage
Tires should be stored in a cool, dark and dry place. Gasoline, oils and greases must not get on them.
Tires should be stored lying down or hung on rims in a garage or shed (basement).
Before removing the wheels, you need to increase the pressure in them by 0.3-0.5 bar.
For winter tires, it makes sense to purchase your own rims so as not to swap tires of different types on the same rims.
Tire break-in
New tires leave the factory with a very smooth surface. In this regard, new tires need to be run in. With such a break-in, a smooth surface will be erased.
When driving the first 300 km on new tires, you need to be especially careful when driving on slippery or wet roads.
Anti-skid chains
The use of snow chains is only permitted on the driving (those. rear) wheels. Do not drive faster than 50 km/h with snow chains. When driving on a road free of snow and ice, the chains must be removed.
Use of chains recommended by BMW is allowed.
