Removal and installation of release bearing

If the release bearing is defective, noises are heard when the clutch pedal is depressed.

Withdrawal

Remove gearbox.



Remove spring clip 7 and release lever 4 with release bearing 3 from gearbox shaft.

Check the release bearing by hand. To do this, slightly compress and rotate the bearing. It should rotate easily, otherwise replace the release bearing.

Installation

Lightly grease oil groove N, guides F and bearing surfaces L Longthern 2.

Caution: For compound flywheels, lubricate the keyways with Microlube 261.

Place release lever with release bearing on gearbox shaft and secure with spring clip.

Install gearbox.
