- A 19 mm hexagon socket wrench is required to loosen the low drain and fill plugs.

- Gearbox oil according to specified specification.
The gearbox oil should be changed as part of the maintenance schedule every 60,000 km. As part of the maintenance schedule, every 15,000 km it is necessary to carry out an external inspection of the gearbox, if traces of oil are found, check the oil level. The oil level should reach the lower edge of the filler hole.
Before changing the oil, the gearbox must be warm, to do this, make a 15-minute drive.
Raise the car.
Unscrew oil filler plug -arrow- on gearbox. It is located on the right or left side of the box, depending on its type. Place a container under the oil that is flowing out.
Unscrew the oil drain plug at the bottom of the gearbox with a hexagon socket wrench.
Attention: Drain the oil into a container and then take it to a special waste collection point. Do not throw away the oil and do not dispose of it with household waste.
Screw in the drain plug with a tightening torque of 50 Nm.
The oil must be approved by BMW. Basically, these are oils for automatic transmission, having the designation "Dexron II". Filling requires an oiler or hose. When topping up, place a vessel to collect the escaping oil. Do not pour too much oil at one time.
Attention: Never pour oil above the lower edge of the filler hole.
Screw in the filler plug with a tightening torque of 50 Nm.
Lower the car.
