Right and left direction indicators
The lamp flashes when the turn signal is turned on.
high beam
Lights up when the high beam headlights are turned on and when the headlights are signaling
Sight turn indicator*
Illuminates when the turn signal is turned on when towing a trailer.
Brake pad wear indicator
Lights up when the starter is turned on and goes out after the engine starts. If this light comes on while driving, replace the brake pads immediately.
Attention: Install only blocks certified by BMW, otherwise you will lose the right to warranty service.
Parking (manual) brake
Goes out after starting the engine. Lights up continuously when the parking brake lever is applied.
brake fluid level
Goes out after starting the engine. If it comes on while driving, the brake fluid level is too low.
Anti-lock braking system (ABS)
Goes out after starting the engine. If it lights up while driving, this is a signal that the ABS has been disabled due to a system malfunction. In this case, the normal performance of the brakes is maintained without restrictions.
Oil pressure
Goes out after starting the engine. It may come on at idle when the engine is hot, but should go out as the engine speed increases. If the light comes on while driving with the message «Oefdruck Motor» on the display of the automatic diagnostic system, you should immediately stop and turn off the engine. Check oil level, add if necessary. If the oil level is correct, do not start the engine and contact a BMW workshop.
Electronic engine power control (EML) *
(in combination with ASC - see below) If the lamp flashes when the ignition is turned on and then goes out, the system is in order. If the lamp does not go out or lights up while driving, there is a defect in the system, contact a BMW workshop. You can continue driving at low engine speeds.
Battery charge
The lamp goes out after starting the engine. If it lights up while driving, it means that the battery is not charging. It is possible that the alternator drive belt has failed or there is a malfunction in the battery charge electrical circuit.
Attention: If the alternator drive belt breaks, the coolant pump also stops working, so the engine overheats and may fail. Contact a BMW workshop.
Fog lights
The indicator lights up when the fog lights are on.
Rear fog lights
The indicator lights up when the rear fog lights are on.
