Determine the actual value «E 1» the distance between the end face of the drive gear and the axle of the differential according to the formula:
E1 = E + (+e),
Where:
E is the nominal distance between the end face of the drive gear and the axle of the differential, equal to 59.00 mm;
+ e - correction to the nominal distance between the end face of the drive gear and the axle of the differential, marked on the drive gear and equal to +0.15 mm
E1 = 59.00 + 0.15 = 59.15 mm.
Determine the size «Y» according to the formula:
Y = b - B,
Where:
b - the value of the preload of the indicator leg, equal to 4.00 mm;
B is the value measured by the indicator, equal to, say, 3.12 mm.
Y = 4.00 - 3.12 = 0.88 mm
Determine estimated distance «E2» between the end face of the drive gear and the axle of the differential according to the formula:
E 2 = C + D + Y,
Where:
C is the thickness of the support mandrel, equal, for example, to 38 mm;
D - half the diameter of the control shaft, equal to, for example, 20 mm
E2 = 38 + 20 + 0.88 = 58.88 mm.
Determine thickness «X» adjusting ring according to the formula:
X = A + (E 1 — E 2),
where: A is the thickness of the technological ring, equal to 4.05 mm
X = 4.05 + (59,15 — 58,88) = 4.32 mm.

The thickness of the adjusting ring is determined in the same way as for the Gleason final drive, taking into account that the nominal distance «E» between the end of the drive gear and the axle of the differential is 59 mm.
Remove the tools for adjusting the distance between the end of the drive gear and the differential axle and remove the drive gear from the axle housing.
Press the rear bearing inner race off the pinion gear using a suitable cup size puller (or Rollex puller HM 89449).
Install an adjusting ring of the required thickness into the groove of the drive gear with a chamfer of the inner diameter to the end of the gear and press the inner ring of the rear bearing until it stops into the adjusting ring. Slide a new spacer onto the drive gear and finally install the drive gear with grease in the oil seal.
After tightening the nut of the drive gear flange, check the moment of resistance to turning the drive gear bearings, which should be within 21-27 kgf cm.
