Drain the oil from the steering box.
Make sure that there are marks for the relative position of the bipod relative to the bipod shaft. If necessary, apply marks on the bipod with a core.
Having unscrewed the steering arm mounting nut, remove the bipod with a BMW 7027 puller.
Remove the steering gear case cover and the bipod shaft. Remove the bipod shaft assembly with the roller from the crankcase.
Having unscrewed the mounting bolts, remove the cover of the worm shaft thrust bearing, remove the shims, the outer ring of the thrust bearing and knock out the worm shaft together with the bearing separators with a hammer with a plastic striker.
Take out from a case of the steering mechanism epiploons.
Press out the outer ring of the upper bearing of the worm shaft, resting the mandrel in two recesses in the crankcase.
Using a Kukko puller with an internal expander, press the needle bearings of the bipod shaft out of the steering gear housing.
Remove the steering gear housing cover from the bipod shaft by unscrewing the lock nut and fully unscrewing the adjusting screw. Remove and save guide ring 4.
