Parking brake
Check the operation of the parking brake. Excessive displacement (too many clicks) indicates a faulty brake or incorrect cable adjustment.
Make sure the handbrake does not release by pushing the lever on the side. Check up reliability of fastening of the lever.
Foot brake
Depress the brake pedal and check that it does not reach the floor, which would indicate a master cylinder failure. Release the pedal, wait a few seconds, then press again. If the brake pedal almost reaches the floor, this indicates that the brake needs to be adjusted or rebuilt. If you feel a firmness when you press the pedal, this indicates the presence of air in the hydraulic system, which must be removed by pumping.
Check that the brake pedal is secure and in good condition. Also check for leaks around the pedal on the butt or carpets, which would indicate a seal failure in the brake master cylinder.
Check the brake booster unit (if he is), pressing the brake pedal several times, then, without releasing the pedal, start the engine. After starting the engine, the pedal should drop slightly. If this does not happen, the vacuum hose or booster may be defective.
Steering wheel and steering column
Check the steering wheel for cracks or looseness.
Move the steering wheel from side to side, then up and down. Check that the steering wheel is not loose on the column, which would indicate wear or loosening of the mounting nut.
Continue to jerk the steering wheel as before, but turn it slightly to the left and right. Make sure the arm is loose on the column and that there is no increased play.
Windshield and rear-view mirrors
The windshield must not have cracks or other significant damage obstructing the driver's view. (Small marks from stones are acceptable). Rear-view mirrors must not be damaged and must be easily adjustable.
Note. The following checks apply to both the front and rear seats.
Inspect the straps (including rear ones if installed) for cracks and significant wear. Fasten and unfasten each belt to check the buckles. If there is, check the operation of the tensioner. Check the fastening of the belt supports.
Seat belts equipped with pretensioners that have been deployed must be marked on the buckle. This does not replace the seat belt inspection procedure.
The front seats must be securely locked in the selected position, the seatbacks must be locked in the upright position.
Doors
Both front doors must open and close both from the outside and from the inside and securely latch in the closed position.
