Battery — basic information and care

The installed 12V battery consists of six jars containing positive and negative plates, which are dipped in a sulfuric acid solution. The task of the battery is to generate current for starting the car, ignition and for lighting, as well as for other consumers of electricity.

Battery Care

The following work should be done from time to time to ensure that the battery lasts longer and its capacity is maintained at maximum.

1. Always keep the battery and its surroundings clean. The surface of the battery must always be dry, otherwise surface leakage currents may occur between the individual cells, causing the battery to discharge itself.

2. The electrolyte level must be at the ring on the underside of the filling chamber at all times. Use distilled water to top up.

3. In cold weather, do not leave the battery uncharged, otherwise it will freeze. Weakly charged batteries freeze before charged ones.
