Withdrawal
1. Mark with paint the position of the front wheel relative to the hub. This will allow the balanced wheel to return to its original position. Loosen the wheel bolts with the vehicle on the ground. Raise the front of the car and remove the wheel
2. Remove the lower cover of the engine compartment, refer to Section Removal and installation of the bottom cover of an impellent compartment.
3. Remove the tie-rod joint from the steering knuckle with a puller, refer to Section Removal and installation of a tip of steering draft.
4. Loosen the clamp and slide the cover back.
5. Push the rack as far as possible to avoid possible damage to the rack and its supports.
6. Unscrew the steering rod from the gear rack (arrow illustration).
Installation
7. Measure the rack. If a new tie rod is being installed, screw it in so that the measurement taken from the old tie rod is correct.
8. Tighten the tie rod end clamping nut to 80 Nm.
9. If necessary, clean the tie-rod pivot pin, as well as the seat in the steering knuckle, from grease.
10. Check the boot and replace if necessary.
11. Fasten the tie rod to the gear rack with a torque of 100 Nm.
12. Put on the cover and secure it with a tie. Make sure that the cover is not twisted.
13. Insert the tip into the steering knuckle. Screw a new self-locking nut onto the tie rod joint pin and tighten to 65 Nm.
14. Reinstall the wheel so that the marks made during removal match. Lubricate the seat of the wheel disk on the hub with a thin layer of bearing grease. Do not grease wheel bolts. Replace rusty bolts with new ones. Fasten the wheel with bolts. Lower the vehicle onto the wheels and tighten the bolts crosswise to 100 Nm.
15. Install the bottom cover of the engine compartment, refer to Section Removal and installation of the bottom cover of an impellent compartment.
16. Check the track at the service station, adjust if necessary.
