Removal and installation of the gauge of a stock of fuel

On BMW 3 Series vehicles, each chamber of the fuel tank has its own fuel gauge. To check the sensors, they must be removed. The fuel pump is located in the sensor in the right chamber of the fuel tank. Therefore, to remove the pump, it is necessary to remove the right fuel supply sensor.

Withdrawal

Attention: Do not make open fire! Fire hazard! When removing the fuel gauge, the fuel tank must not be filled. Therefore, either all the fuel should be removed, or the fuel should be pumped out into a vessel of an appropriate capacity. This work should be carried out outdoors or ensure adequate ventilation.

Disconnect the ground wire from the battery.

Attention: When the battery is disconnected, the information in the electronic memory devices, such as the engine trouble memory or the radio security code memory, is erased. Disconnect the battery only when the ignition is switched off, so as not to damage the fuel injection system control unit. When disconnecting the battery, follow the instructions in sections "Radio" And "Removing and installing the battery".

Remove rear seat.

Fold up the trim under the seat cushion.
