Withdrawal
Disconnect the wires from the battery terminals and, acting from the engine compartment, unscrew the bolts securing the gearbox housing to the engine block.
Remove the muffler intake pipe mounting brackets from the gearbox.
Disconnect the muffler intake tube from the exhaust manifold.
Detach the driveshaft from the transmission output shaft flange, leaving the flexible coupling at the end of the driveshaft.
Turn away nuts of bolts of fastening of a cross-beam of an intermediate support to a body.
Release and remove the front propeller shaft.
Disconnect the speedometer flexible shaft from the speedometer drive. Depending on the modification of the gearbox, disconnect the wires from the reverse light switch on the rear cover of the gearbox housing.
Remove the bundle of wires from the brackets on the gearbox and unscrew the bolts securing the gearbox to the suspension bracket.
Disconnect the gearshift linkage by removing the circlip and washer from its end.
Remove the clutch slave cylinder by unscrewing the fastening nuts. Remove the clamp securing the hydraulic clutch feed line to the gearbox housing.
Remove the protective shield from the gearbox housing.
Disconnect the rear cross member from the body, then unscrew the remaining mounting bolts.
Depending on the modification of the gearbox, disconnect the wires from the reverse light switch located on top of the gearbox.
Remove the gearbox.
Installation
Install the gearbox and tighten the mounting bolts that are accessible.
Attach the rear cross member to the body.
Install the transmission guard.
Install the clutch slave cylinder with the clutch bleed screw pointing down.
Attach the clutch feed line bracket to the gearbox housing.
Attach the shift drive rod, put a washer and a retaining ring on its pin.
Tighten the gearbox to suspension bracket bolts and secure the wire bundle to the gearbox housing.
Attach the wires to the reverse light switch and attach the speedometer flexible shaft to the speedometer drive.
Install the front propeller shaft and tighten the nuts of the bolts securing the cross member of the intermediate support to the body with a preload of 2 mm in the direction of travel of the vehicle.
Attach the cardan shaft to the flange of the output shaft of the gearbox and tighten the nuts of the bolts securing the flexible coupling to the flange (Nuts must be replaced every time the cardan shaft is removed).
Connect the muffler downpipe to the exhaust manifold.
Attach the muffler downpipe to the gearbox.
Loosen the muffler intake pipe clamp nuts.
Press the bracket against the exhaust pipe without applying excessive force and tighten the nuts of the bolts of the exhaust pipe bracket to the gearbox and the nuts of the exhaust pipe clamp.
Tighten the remaining gearbox mounting bolts.
Connect the wires to the battery terminals.
