Warning. Stop the engine and turn off the ignition before attempting to remove components or check their integrity of the contactless ignition system to avoid electrical shock.
Checking the angle of the cam on the sensor-distributor of the contactless ignition system TSZi
Attach a cam angle tester to the ignition distributor.
Check the cam angle, which should be within 42°±10°at 1500 rpm and within 52°±5°at 4500 rpm.
The cam angle is determined by the design of the ignition distributor and is not adjustable in operation.
Adjusting the angle of the cam on the distributor of the contact ignition system
Attach a cam angle tester to the ignition distributor.
Start the starter motor.
Remove the ignition distributor cover and adjust the cam angle by moving the breaker contact plate, which should be within 35-41°, try to achieve the cam angle value as close to 35°as possible.
Checking and setting the ignition timing
Disconnect the black ignition timing hose and the white ignition timing hose from the ignition distributor vacuum regulator.
connect clamp «+» phase shift strobe with battery terminal, clamp «masses» with an unpainted part of the body, and connect the stroboscope sensor clamp to the high voltage wire of the 1st cylinder. Start the engine and bring the engine speed to 1500 rpm.
Point the flashing strobe light at the crankshaft vibration damper; at the same time, the mark of the initial setting of the ignition moment «Z» on the damper must be against the adjusting lug on the protective cover of the toothed belt of the camshaft drive.
If necessary, loosen the ignition distributor housing mounting bolt and turn it to the required angle. To increase the ignition timing, the distributor sensor housing should be turned counterclockwise, and to decrease it, clockwise.
Tighten a bolt of fastening of the case of the gauge distributor of ignition.
Check the ignition timing again.
Attach vacuum hoses to the ignition distributor.
Disconnect the stroboscope.
