Install the washed and cleaned engine on a turntable for disassembly.
Remove the cylinder head as above.
Remove the protective cover and exhaust manifold. Remove the generator and starter.
Remove water pump assembly (see subsection «Cooling system»).
Remove the protective casing of the flywheel ring gear and block the flywheel from turning with a retainer.
Remove the crankshaft pulley by unscrewing its fastening nut.
Remove the lower timing cover.
Remove the camshaft drive chain by painting a match mark on the front of the chain. Remove the chain guide shoe and tensioner shoe.
Loosen the bolts securing the clutch cover to the flywheel and remove it complete with pressure plate. This releases the clutch disc, pay attention to its position, the protruding part of the hub is directed towards the pressure plate.
Remove flywheel.
Remove the crankshaft rear oil seal holder, then press the oil seal out.
Drain the engine oil. Turn the engine over with the crankcase up and remove the oil sump.
Remove the oil pump.
Check the markings of the connecting rod caps and main bearings (caps are counted from the camshaft drive side) and label them if necessary.
Loosen the nuts of the connecting rod bolts, remove the connecting rod caps and the lower connecting rod bearing shells and put them in order.
Carefully remove the pistons with connecting rods through the cylinders and place them next to the corresponding connecting rod caps and connecting rod bearing shells.
Remove the main bearing caps along with the lower bearings. Remove the crankshaft from the bearing seats. Remove the upper main bearing shells and put them in order.
